The unveiling of the Asia University Rankings 2024 by THE showcases performance of institutions across the continent, with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, securing 32nd Rank

The University of Delhi (DU) has leaped forward in Times Higher Education's Asia University Rankings 2024. DU's remarkable progress sees it climb to the 201-250 bracket, a significant improvement from its previous position in the 301-350 range, signaling a commendable stride in academic excellence.

Prof. Yogesh Singh, the Vice Chancellor of DU, extended heartfelt congratulations to all stakeholders associated with the university for their collective efforts in achieving this milestone. Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Singh emphasized DU's relentless commitment to enhancing its global standing, attributing the upward trajectory to the dedication of faculty, officers, officials, and students alike.

Highlighting the university's notable advancements, Prof. Singh underscored improvements across three of the five broad performance indicators delineated by Times Higher Education. Notably, DU excelled in Research Quality, Industry engagement, and International Outlook, reflecting its prowess in fostering new knowledge, facilitating industry collaborations, and attracting talent and collaborations from around the world.

The unveiling of the Asia University Rankings 2024 by Times Higher Education showcased the outstanding performance of institutions across the continent, with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, securing 32nd position. IISc's stellar achievement, with an overall score of 66.1, reaffirms its status as a beacon of academic brilliance for India on the global stage.

However, amidst the accolades, the absence of prominent Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) from the rankings, including IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Madras, IIT Roorkee, and IIT Kanpur, due to continued boycott remains notable. Nevertheless, India's ascent in representation within the rankings, surpassing China as the second most-represented country with 91 institutions featured, underscores the nation's growing prominence in the academic landscape.

As Japan maintains its dominance with 119 universities featured, the recalibrated methodology employed by Times Higher Education underscores the evolving priorities of Asian academic establishments, emphasizing research-intensive institutions' core missions. DU's ascent in the rankings not only reflects its academic prowess but also its pivotal role in shaping the future of higher education in India and beyond.
