Delhi University Set to Offer Dual Degree Programmes, Broadening Learning Opportunities

Delhi University Set to Offer Dual Degree Programmes

At the 1016th Academic Council (AC) meeting of the University of Delhi, the officials have approved the proposal for dual degrees, allowing students to pursue two academic programmes simultaneously, with one being distance learning or online. 

The approval for concurrent enrollment in two academic degree programs was granted following the presentation, while the remaining agenda items were deferred for discussion in the next meeting. Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Singh chaired the meeting.

Under the dual-degree proposal, students will not be allowed to choose two similar courses, that is, courses with syllabi that have 70% or more similarities. However, the final decision will now require a final stamp of approval from the universityโ€™s executive council. The date for the same is yet to be announced.  

The DU academic council discussed about teaming up with foreign schools for degree programmes and transferring credits according to NEP 2020. A committee that was constituted by the DU that gave suggestions on how to make these plans happen. They presented detailed information regarding tie-ups with foreign institutions, joint and dual degrees and issuance of two academic degrees simultaneously.

Delhi University Admission 2023 

Vice Chancellor Yogesh Singh also informed the council that this year, a total of 68,583 admissions have been made in undergraduate programmes. Apart from these, there have been 11,196 admissions in postgraduate and 784 admissions in PhD programmes. He also said 98 orphan students have been admitted with full fee waiver under the special reservation scheme.
