Delhi University to start B.Tech in Computer Science, ECE and Electrical Engineering
University of Delhi has also announced to start two new five-year courses of LLB courses from the upcoming academic year.
Delhi University will be starting with three B.Tech programmes and also plans to start two new five-year courses of LLB courses from the upcoming academic year. The DU Academic Council has also approved the running of Integrated Teacher Education Program (ITEP) course, which was being opposed by a section of teachers.
As per the proposal approved by Delhi University Academic Council it plans to start programs of B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering, B.Tech Electronics and Communication Engineering and B.Tech Electrical Engineering will be started. Apart from this, it was also approved in the meeting to start two new five-year courses of LLB.
Freedom and Partition Study Center will be established at Delhi University
The proposal to set up the Center for Independence and Partition Studies was also approved during the DU Academic Council meeting. Through research, this center will also work on such unknown heroes and events of the freedom movement, which have not yet found a place in history. Along with this, the incidents during the tragedy of partition of India will also be deeply studied and researched. For this, "oral history" will also be recorded in the voices of those people of that era who have suffered this tragedy. Studies will also be done in this center to fully understand the challenges faced in achieving independence from foreign rule and the impact of physical, emotional, economic and cultural loss on the people due to the geographical division of the country. The center will work on the study of various aspects of the struggle for independence and the causes and effects of the partition.
DU Tribal Studies Center will also start
In the meeting of the Academic Council of University of Delhi, the establishment of Tribal Studies Center has also been approved. It will be a multi-disciplinary center with studies on various tribes of India. The main objectives of the center are to understand the term "tribe" from an Indo-centric perspective, to study their social, cultural, linguistic, religious, economic, environmental aspects and to study the role and contribution of tribal leaders in different eras of India. Along with these, the center also aims to shed light on the role and importance of tribal leaders in India's struggle, to bring to the fore the unsung heroes among them, to study and document the various folk traditions prevalent among the tribes of India.
ITEP Program also got approval
The Academic Council also approved the running of Integrated Teacher Education Program (ITEP) course in University of Delhi from the academic session 2023-24. This will be a 4 year course as a pilot project. The Vice-Chancellor said that this will not have any impact on the teacher education programs going on earlier. No course will be closed. He informed that this course will be conducted after Senior Secondary or its equivalent examination or as per NEP 2020 structure of school education (5+3+3+4).
