DU has outlined its policy for admissions under the Extra Curricular Activities (ECA) and Sports supernumerary quotas. The university has identified 26 sports and 14 ECA categories, including NSS and NCC, for this purpose.

The University of Delhi (DU) has unveiled its Undergraduate (UG) admission policy for the academic session 2024-25, with a significant emphasis on Extra Curricular Activities (ECA) and Sports supernumerary quotas. During a press conference on May 28, DU launched the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) portal, marking the start of the first phase of UG admissions. This year, the university has allocated 5% of the total seats in each college for ECA and Sports categories, aiming to foster a more inclusive and dynamic student community.

The new admission policy includes specific provisions for the School of Open Learning (SOL) and the Non-Collegiate Women's Education Board (NCWEB). DU Registrar Dr. Vikas Gupta highlighted a significant update: starting this academic session, one seat in each class across all colleges and departments will be reserved for a single girl child under the supernumerary quota. This follows last year's pioneering move by DU to reserve seats for orphan students, a first in India.

Supernumerary Quotas for ECA & Sports

DU has outlined its policy for admissions under the Extra Curricular Activities (ECA) and Sports supernumerary quotas. The university has identified 26 sports and 14 ECA categories, including NSS and NCC, for this purpose.

Key points include:

Allocation: 5% of a college’s total sanctioned strength is reserved for ECA and Sports quotas. Colleges can distribute this quota between 1% to 4% for each, but the total cannot exceed 5%. For example, a college with 1000 seats can allocate up to 50 seats for these quotas, with a maximum of 6 seats per program for Sports and 4 seats per program for ECA.

Application Process: Applicants can apply for up to three sports or ECA categories, uploading self-attested certificates from the preceding three years (May 1, 2021, to April 30, 2024). For Sports, a maximum of three certificates; for ECA, up to five best certificates are required.

Merit Basis: Admissions will be based on the Combined ECA Merit (CEM) and Combined Sports Merit (CSM).

Fee: A non-refundable fee of Rs. 100 is required for each ECA/Sports quota application.

Other Supernumerary Quotas

The university has also reserved seats under various other supernumerary quotas, including:

Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD)

Children/widows of Personnel of the Armed Forces (CW)

Kashmiri Migrants (KM)

Prime Minister's Scholarship Scheme for J&K Students (PMSSS)

Nomination of seats for Sikkimese Students

Orphans

This comprehensive approach aims to ensure diverse and inclusive opportunities for students across various categories, reflecting DU's commitment to accessible and equitable education.
