Exploring Opportunities: UGC Invites Participation in Research Works in Official Statistics

UGC is seeking the participation of candidates in undertaking research work in official statistics and asked the Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to share information between students, faculty students and researchers to use official statistics by MoSPI.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) is inviting participation in undertaking research works in official statistics. The commission has shared the details concerning the implementation of the Ministry of Statistics and Programme and urged Higher Education Institutions to share information between students, faculty students and researchers to use official statistics by MoSPI. 

Responsibility of MoSPI

The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) is responsible for estimating and publishing official statistics including Gross Domestic Product (GDP), Index of Industrial Production (IIP) and Consumer Price Index (CPI) along with other large-scale sample surveys in the country.  The portal is designed to offer real-time data for planners, the general public, policy-makers and researchers. It serves as an exhaustive data management and sharing system, making the dissemination of official statistics in the nation more efficient. 

The notification further describes the internship saying "The MoSPI offers summer internships to post-graduate/research students in various offices across the country. HEls is also requested to share the information regarding the summer internships offered to post-graduates/research students for promoting research work in the development and improvement of official statistics."
