Innovation Should Lead to Social Change & Economic Growth, Says LG Sinha at Galgotias University Hackathon

During the Smart India Hackathon 2024, Galgotias University announced a 50% scholarship for Jammu and Kashmir students under the presence of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.

Galgotias University organised the Grand Finale Smart India Hackathon 2024. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha was the chief guest of the event. LG Sinha appreciated the spirit of innovation and shared that he sees the Smart India Hackathon as a powerful instrument to reduce the gap between educational institutions and industries. The hackathon enables participants from across the country to work on critical problem statements to develop successful innovation. 

He further highlighted the transformation in innovation over the past 10 years and how India has emerged as one of the global leaders in new inventions which were essential for the future of the society and the nation's economic growth. 

“We need cutting-edge technologies to be the leading nation in technological inventions and at the same time, we need environment-friendly innovations for sustainable development. To achieve the goal of a Developed Nation by 2047, we need knowledge, capability and commitment of innovators, collaborations, support for new ideas, discoveries, marketing and commercialization of innovations,” the Lieutenant Governor said during his speech.    

He further highlighted the need for new innovations to benefit society such as water and energy conservation, waste management, precision agriculture and e-governance. He also urged the young innovators to explore diverse areas in the agriculture sector pertaining to soil health, pest infestation, climate change, and real-time data. 

50% Scholarship for J&K Students 

Galgotias University's Chancellor Suneel Galgotia addressed the participants and announced a 50% scholarship to the students from Jammu and Kashmir state. Besides, CEO Dr Dhruv Galgotias emphasizes on university's dedication to becoming an important pillar of society through education and fostering national programmes through societal transformation.
