JNU initiates recruitment for over 300 Faculty posts
More than 6000 teaching posts are lying vacant in central universities, of this around 3800 belong to SC,ST, OBC categories.
The Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has initiated the process of recruitment for various teaching and non-teaching posts. The university has commenced the process of filling up over 700 vacant posts in the university.
The Ministry of Education launched Mission mode recruitment two years back, under which it asked all the central universities to fill vacant teaching posts. As per data shared by the Government, more than 6000 teaching posts are lying vacant in central universities.
JNU is conducting one of the largest recruitment drives for the past 19 months, under which 331 faculty positions have been advertised and about 186 Selection Committees have been conducted, including 128 reserved positions.
The university has claimed that for the first time, JNU has appointed Professors in the ST category. JNU is also conducting recruitment of 388 non-teaching positions through NTA exams.
“The appointments are in mission mode. This is bringing diversity and implementation of constitutional guarantees, reads a statement by the university.
The highest number of 108 promotions through CAS in JNU history has been done in the last 19 months and is still going on in mission mode.
In another development, JNU has appointed Kanwal Sibal former Foreign Secretary as its new Chancellor. Kanwal Sibal will replace Dr. V. K. Saraswat.
