Maharashtra Government approves Nayanta University, To Start Operations in 2025 from Pune
Nayanta University, a world-class university helmed by many leading industrialists and academics, proposes to admit its first batch of students in August 2025.
Nayanta has obtained a letter of intent and cabinet approval from the Government of Maharashtra under the Maharashtra Private Universities Act. Nayanta proposes to offer undergraduate degrees in the arts and sciences, and a Master's in public policy as its initial offerings. The University campus will come up in Pune.
Dr Naushad Forbes, a founder of the project said "We are grateful to the Maharashtra Government and especially the leadership for their support and guidance throughout the initial university formation process. Nayanta will be an inclusive, holistic university with a high degree of industry integration. We believe Nayanta will further strengthen the educational ecosystem in Pune, Maharashtra, India and over time, overseas.”
Dr Ranjan Banerjee, Professor and CEO, Nayanta Education Foundation said "Nayanta has already signed an MOU with the Confederation of Indian Industries. This partnership will help us provide internships to every Nayanta student in the corporate, government and social sectors. Corporate partnerships will also ensure strong placement outcomes right from the first batch. Nayanta will provide a holistic multidisciplinary education which will enable every student to craft choices and careers which are suited to their unique strengths. A year-long foundation course will ensure that students select specializations after having in-depth exposure to multiple courses and career paths. Culturally, we will create an environment of psychological safety, with one-on-one faculty-student interaction outside the classroom embedded in the culture.”
Nayanta’s students will balance the ability to understand and leverage technology effectively with a deep appreciation of perspectives from the humanities and social sciences. They will be well-rounded citizens with a deep understanding of rural and urban India. Nayanta will follow a need-blind admission process, and no meritorious student will be left behind for financial reasons.
Nayanta proposes to offer undergraduate degrees in the arts and sciences, and a Master's in public policy as its initial offerings.
