MAHE, Mangalore University Signs MoU to Advance Medical Research & Healthcare Technology

MAHE in collaboration with Mangalore University is planning to advance medical research and healthcare technology with a focus on establishing a systematics framework for gamma Irradiation of Bone Allografts.

MAHE MoU with Mangalore University

Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) and Mangalore University have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in order to achieve the advancement in medical science. This collaboration between the institutions aims to establish a systematic framework for gamma irradiation of bone allograft materials. This establishment will play an important role in operating the newly founded Bone Bank at Kasturba Medical College & Hospital, Manipal.

The MoU further highlight that MAHE will coordinate the gamma irradiation of bone allograft at the Centre for Application of Radiation and Radioisotope Technology (CARRT), in collaboration with Mangalore University. The process is a critical procedure but eliminates pathogens and ensures the highest quality standards are met for donated tissues. 

Vice Chancellor of Mangalore University, P.L. Dharma expressed his delight from the MoU and also appreciated MAHE's dedication concerning the research and innovation in the healthcare industry. He emphasised the importance of this collaboration and encouraged further partnerships between Mangalore University and MAHE in the future.

Dr Monappa Naik A, Professor at KMC, Manipal, magnified on the role of the Bone Bank in improving patient care at Kasturba Medical College. He stated, "The Bone Bank will significantly improve the availability of safe and effective bone grafts, which are vital for a range of surgical procedures, thereby enhancing treatment options for patients."
