Mumbai University Exams 2022: Mumbai University's final-year Third Year BCom exams started across all colleges in online mode. This is for the first time that for TYBCom, Mumbai University sent a bank of 250 questions to colleges, hours before the exam.

It must be noticed that the TYBCom sees the highest enrolment — over 60,000 — in the university. While TYBCOM exams began on Tuesday, TYBA and TYBSc exams are scheduled to start from today; i.e. April 21, 2022. Question banks were first sent for exams of postgraduate and self-financed courses last October.

While speaking about the same, a university official said efforts were taken to include questions that needed understanding of concepts. “We are hoping to get slightly more realistic results,” said the official as reported by TOI. In the last four exams conducted online, over 90 per cent of students have cleared the exams.

While speaking about the question bank, a college principal said there were a few errors in the Financial Accounting questions and in some others, the multiple choices were incorrect. Another principal said their teacher selected 50 questions from the bank after checking the answers matched properly.

The university official said there could have been a problem while drawing questions and the positions of the options may have changed. “The colleges had the option of choosing 50 questions from 250. So, it should not have been a problem,” said the official. He added that the university did not receive any complaints.

Earlier, Mumbai University directed all autonomous colleges to provide extra time to students to complete their exams. The move came after several students protested against the decision to conduct examinations in offline mode. In a circular, the varsity asked the colleges to keep ample breaks between two exams and to ensure that timings are suitable for students to travel conveniently.
