Over 1000 students benefited from DU's Financial Assistance Scheme

Under the scheme, students with a family income less than INR 4,00,000 get a 100% fee waiver while students with a family income between INR 4,00,000 to INR 8,00,000 get a 50% fee waiver.

More than one thousand needy students have received benefits of about one crore rupees under the Financial Assistance Scheme (FSS) launched by the University of Delhi (DU).

University's Dean of Students Welfare Prof. Pankaj Arora said that the Students Welfare Office collected the necessary data from deserving candidates. After due verification, which includes the home visit of the applicants, we are pleased to inform you that the list of students for the disbursement of fee waivers is finalised. This scheme has benefitted more than one thousand students, which amounts to more than One Crore rupees.

Prof. Aroda said that recognising the need for affirmative action as mandated by the constitution of India, the University is committed to extending the benefits of equity, access, and quality education to financially weak students. In line with this commitment, the University has announced a financial support scheme that will provide fee waivers to economically weak students.
“During its centenary celebrations, the financial support scheme is a testament to the University’s commitment to providing an inclusive and enabling environment for all students. The University of Delhi believes that education is a right of every individual. This new financial support scheme is a significant step towards ensuring that economically weak students can access quality education without financial burdens,” he said.

The University hopes this initiative will encourage more students from diverse backgrounds to pursue their dreams of higher education at the University of Delhi and contribute to the nation's progress.
He said that A full-time bonafide student studying at the University of Delhi in its Department/ Institutions belonging to various categories is eligible to apply.

Under the scheme, students with a family income less than INR 4,00,000 get a 100% fee waiver while students with a family income between INR 4,00,000 to INR 8,00,000 get a 50% fee waiver. He said that the Candidates with ER/ Arrears of previous examination papers are not eligible to apply.
