Solar Decathlon India 2024-25: Registrations have officially opened for the fifth edition of Solar Decathlon India (SDI), marking the commencement of the world's largest Net-Zero Building Challenge. This initiative, organized by the Indian Institute for Human Settlements (IIHS) and the Alliance for an Energy-Efficient Economy (AEEE), under the Indo-US Science and Technology Forum (IUSSTF), aims to revolutionize the construction and real estate sectors through sustainable, student-driven innovations.

Participant Engagement

Undergraduate and postgraduate teams from Indian institutions participate in SDI across five Building Divisions or the Product Division. These teams collaborate with esteemed project partners such as Harmony Lifestyles Group, Infosys, Lodha, Mahindra Lifespaces, Sobha Ltd, Sumadhura Infracon, and TATA Realty. Their goal is to devise innovative, climate-resilient solutions that enhance building sustainability and efficiency.

Scope of Participation

Participants are encouraged to engage in various areas, including developing new construction projects and enhancing existing residential buildings. In the Product Division, the focus shifts to designing products that mitigate heat stress and reduce cooling energy in homes.

Eligibility

SDI welcomes undergraduate and postgraduate students from diverse disciplines such as engineering, architecture, product design, industrial design, UX design, finance, management, computer science, and robotics. Additionally, building owners, developers, manufacturers, startups, and professionals are invited to partner with teams to integrate cutting-edge technologies and solutions.
