UGC Removes Techno Global University, Shillong from Recognized Universities List
Education Department of Meghalaya recommended the removal of the university's name from the UGC list, citing its non-existence.
In a recent public notice, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has officially delisted Techno Global University, Shillong, Meghalaya, from its list of recognized universities. The decision comes in light of concerns raised by the Education Department, Government of Meghalaya, regarding the non-existence of the university.
Techno Global University, Shillong, initially gained recognition as a State Private University established by the Government of Meghalaya. It was enlisted in the UGC's list of universities in January 2013. However, the Education Department of Meghalaya, through its letter No. EDN.136/2008/669 dated 27.09.2022, recommended the removal of the university's name from the UGC list, citing its non-existence.
The official website of Techno Global University, Shillong, further corroborates the non-functional status of the institution. The website, https://technoglobaluniversity.com/, explicitly states, "Techno Global University, Shillong, has never started any academic activity since inception. We have never issued any mark-sheet, certificate, and degree to any person. We have also never authorized any person or institution to act on behalf of us."
In response to the recommendation and the university's admission of non-activity, the UGC has taken decisive action to remove Techno Global University, Shillong, Meghalaya, from its list of recognized universities.
This development serves as a crucial step to maintain the integrity of the UGC's list and uphold the standards of higher education in the country. Students and stakeholders are advised to take note of this update and consider alternative academic options.
