Union Budget 2022: Digital University, One Class One TV Channel to bridge digital divide
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced that World-Class Universities will be allowed to establish campuses in Gift city free from domestic regulations.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presenting the Union Budget 2022-23 announced that Digital university will be established with the focus on ICT using the hub and spoke mode. She also announced that World-Class Universities to be allowed to establish campuses in India, without following domestic regulations in various areas like Science, Finance, Engineering.
Nirmala Sitharaman announced that select Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in all states will offer courses for skilling. She said: “Skilling programs will be reoriented. For skilling, upskilling & reskilling of our youth, Digital DESH e-portal will be launched.”
The Union Budget 2022 also announced creation of 'One Class One TV Channel', under this number of TV channels will be increased from 12 to 200 to provide supplementary education in regional languages for class 1-12.
Finance Minister in her Budget also announced that World class universities will be allowed to offer courses in financial services and technology free of indian regulations.
Five academic institutions on urban planning to be made centres of excellence, and the All India Council for Technical Education will look after this. These institutions will get endowment of Rs 250 crore each.
A digital university will be established to provide access to students across the country for world class quality universal education with personalised learning experience at their doorstep.
