102 government-run schools have received show-cause notices by the education department demanding an explanation behind such low pass percentage in board results 2022.

IIT Guwahati to train government school teachers

The faculty members of the Indian Institute of Technology –Guwahati have taken up the task to train the teachers of Assam government schools. Many of these teachers have received show-cause notices from the state education department for registering zero pass percentage in the recently announced Class 10 Assam HSLC board exam results 2022.

According to the Class 10 board results data, the pass percentage among 102 government-run schools has been recorded as between zero and 10%. The education department has sent show-cause notices to these schools demanding an explanation behind such a low pass percentage in board results 2022.

Speaking about the decision on making IIT Faculty train government school teachers, education minister Ranoj Pegu to the media, “In order to train the teachers, especially those imparting maths, science and English lessons, we have inked a deal with IIT- Guwahati. We are also taking measures so that school teachers can benefit from college teachers through training.”

Pegu also shared the plans of the education department on revamping the school education system soon. The government is also planning to implement some changes in the curriculum. “The government is considering implementation of a school rule book across the state. The introduction of the concept of the class teacher is also being mulled. There will be some changes in the course curriculum,” The minister added. In case the replies of school headmasters and principals to show-cause notices are found to be unsatisfactory, their services will be dismissed, the director of secondary education said warning the heads of the schools.
