IIT Kanpur invites applications for eMasters Degree Program for working professionals

The second cohort will be offered two postgraduate programs - Communication Systems, and Quantitative Finance & Risk Management

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur is inviting applications for the second cohort of its eMasters degree program for working professionals. After launching the first cohort in January 2022, IIT Kanpur has now announced the second cohort of the eMasters program with two postgraduate programs - (i) Communication Systems, and (ii) Quantitative Finance & Risk Management.

These programs are scheduled to start from July, 2022.

Professor Abhay Karandikar, Director, IIT Kanpur, said, “The eMasters programs are in line with the diverse and inclusive learning ecosystem we’ve built at IIT Kanpur. It is our endeavor to offer flexibility of learning to working professionals who want to excel in their required field of expertise or beyond. We are delighted to announce the second cohort, after the very encouraging response we saw from the first cohort of the eMasters degree program. We are offering two in-demand programs this year and will continue to add more in the future. A formal degree in leading industry-focused areas will definitely create a meaningful impact for working professionals with high aspirations. It will help enhance their domain expertise and in turn multiply their contribution towards India’s digital transformation journey.”

The e-Masters degree programs provide a virtual learning environment that delivers course content completely online and helps upskilling working professionals with industry experience and expand their career options. The 60 credit, 12 module industry-focused curriculum, and executive-friendly format offer flexible completion timelines (one to three years), IIT Kanpur alumni status, access to IIT Kanpur’s placement cell, alumni network, and incubation cell. The credits earned during the program can be transferred to an advanced degree (regular M.Tech. or Ph.D.) at IIT Kanpur by a participant selected to pursue the advanced degree and subject to Senate approval. Corporates can also sponsor the programs for their employees.

Each unique, postgraduate-level degree program is offered in a hybrid delivery format where participants learn online in an experiential format from IIT Kanpur faculty through the digital delivery platform ipearl.ai. They also have the opportunity to visit IIT Kanpur to meet faculty and experience campus life.

eMasters program in Communication Systems is specifically designed for professionals in the fields of Communications Equipment, Computers & Electronics, Electronics & Electrical, Optoelectronics & Fiber, Network Equipment & Virtualization, Telecommunication, VLSI, IoT, and Signal Processing. This program would arm working professionals with a comprehensive appreciation and knowledge of modern digital communications systems. The program will apprise the trained professionals about the rapid developments in the field of communications in terms of 5G, 6G and Edge Computing being introduced in the country.

eMasters program in Quantitative Finance and Risk Management has a strong focus on the application of Quantitative Finance in improving risk management practices. It offers an opportunity to work on a maximum of four projects which provide hands-on skills in Quantitative Finance and Risk Management. The program is beneficial for budding traders and finance enthusiasts who are planning to make a visible impact in the alternative investment segments such as derivatives, stock market, forex trading, portfolio and fund management, algorithmic trading and capital markets.

The two eMasters degree programs are now open for applications. There are two application windows; the 1st application window closes on May 20, 2022.
