Indian Medical Association (IMA) has confirmed its meeting with Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare Mansukh Mandaviya. IMA tweet reads, "National President IMA Dr Sahajanand Prasad Singh with Hon'ble Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Shri Mansukh Mandaviya Ji on 21.02.2022"

The official statement shared by IMA says, "The Hon'ble Health Minister assured to look into each issue to be sorted out in a time-bound manner, especially pertaining to the prompt conferment of BC Roy Awards pending since last three years, explicit deletion of Health care services from the ambit of Consumer Protection Act, incorporation of amended provisions included in the Indian Epidemic Act pertaining to the prohibition of violence against doctors to be brought into all-time mode through suitable amendments of CrPc, exclusion of the 50 bedded hospitals from the ambit of Clinical Establishment Act, incorporation of Clause 304-C in the criminal procedure code pertaining to criminal medical negligence and arrest of doctors thereto and those pertaining to Bio-Medical Waste."

"He emphasized that the issues can be sorted out by mutual discussions so as to ensure that stake holder’s interests stand protected by joining of the hands by the Government and IMA. He also assured that the issue of integration of the curriculum cannot be at the cost of the sacrifice of the identity of the respective Health professions and compromising with their use and utility. The matter has to be viewed with care and caution and cannot be rushed through in a hurried manner," stated Dr Jayesh M Lele, Hony. Secretary General IMA.

"In regard to taking of Oath by the health professionals of the modern medicine and preposition of Charak Shapath thereto, he emphasized that Oath taking is important rather than any depiction of specification thereto because adherence to oath is more desirable than allegiance of proper nouns affixed thereto," added Dr Jayesh.
