The Bihar government has said that it is trying its best to bring the students back to the state.
As per the latest statement by the Bihar government, it is trying for the safe evacuation of people of Bihar from Ukraine during the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine.
The Bihar Foundation, Govt of Bihar tweet reads, "The ( #बिहार Foundation (Bihar Government) is trying hard to bring the people of Bihar living in #यूक्रेन home. A WhatsApp group has been created for convenient communication with these students. Mr Noor Mohammed 9769412345 has been deputed for arrival at the airport."
"We have received the list of 16 students from Resident Commissioner, Delhi. Bihar Foundation, Mumbai Chapter is striving to bring these students back to Patna safely. Two special flights will arrive in Delhi and Mumbai on Saturday. From there, the Bihar government will bear the cost of returning the students to their homes," said the Bihar Government.
"In view of the ongoing crisis in Ukraine, the state government is fully committed to bringing the stranded Biharis to Bihar. The local commissioner of Bihar has been directed to take appropriate action in coordination with the officials of the Ministry of External Affairs. The Central Government has decided to send special aircraft to bring back Indians stranded in Ukraine. Thanks to the central government for this. Yesterday, two planes carrying Bihar residents from Ukraine have also been reported to land in Mumbai and Delhi. The state government has decided that the state government will pay the entire fare for the people coming to Bihar from there," said Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
Chief Ministers requesting govt for safe return of their people
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had also written to Minister of External Affairs S Jaishankar, seeking urgent help for the 2,322 students of Kerala stuck in Ukraine.
Chief Ministers of other states who have urged the government for the safe evacuation of people from their states are - Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel and Haryana CM ML Khattar.
