ISI Paper Leak 2022: Students demand re-exam, institute files complaint

ISI admission test 2022 was held for courses including BStat (Hons), BMath (Hons), MStat., MMath, MS (QE), MS (QMS), MS (LIS), MTech (CS), MTech (CrS), MTech. (QROR), PG Diplomas and Research Fellowships.

Several students have flooded the social media platform demanding the Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) to hold the annual admission test again after the question paper got leaked during the entrance exam for 2022. Meanwhile, the institute has also lodged a police complaint alleging a leak of the entrance exam question paper.

One of the students wrote We want ISI to conduct the exam again fair and square this time.

Another student tweeted: We want ISI to conduct exam again fair and square this time.

“The ISI had formed an internal committee to investigate the matter and apparently found that a third-year senior research fellow, who was an invigilator that day and who also runs a private coaching centre, had taken a picture of an unused question paper on his mobile phone and generated a PDF in the exam hall. Later, he shared the re-typed question paper on a WhatsApp group among current and former students of the ISI,” the police said, as reported by the Telegraph. 

The officer said a case has been initiated under IPC sections related to cheating, forgery and theft. An ISI senior official said it is still not clear if the paper was leaked or whether those writing the test were supplied with answers by someone from outside.
