Hyderabad: Engineering students develop dust, water proof e-vehicle

The engineering students of Muffakham Jah College of Engineering and Technology (MJCET) have created an 'Electric All-Terrain Vehicle' which is dust and water-proof.

The electric vehicle has been selected for the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) e-BAJA 2022 competition to be held in National Automotive Testing Tracks (NATRAX) at Indore (Madhya Pradesh) from June 1 to 5.

The vehicle was unveiled on Friday in Banjara Hills by Zafar Javeed, secretary, Sultan-ul-Uloom Education Society, and Dr Basheer Ahmed, adviser-cum-director, MJCET, Dr Mahipal Singh Rawat, Principal, MJCET, along with other members of the society, as reported by The Hans India.

A team of 25 students from the Mechanical Engineering department of MJCET has worked on this project for more than a year with the support of Dr Mohd Viquar Mohiuddin, head of department, Dr D Srinivas Rao, faculty adviser, Mohd Abdul Mateen (captain), Mirza Touqeer Ahmed (Vice-captain), and Abdur Rahman, driver and other cabinet crew.

About MJCET 

The college offers BE Courses in 8 Branches (Civil, ECE, CSE, IT, EEE, Mechanical, AI & DS, AI & ML) and 5 ME Courses (CAD/CAM, Structural Engg, Digital Systems, Computers & Power Electronics) of two years duration and current intake of all BE Courses is 780, in addition to 102 students in ME Programs. Research Centers has started in ECE Dept & Mech. Engg. for Doctoral Studies. The college is affiliated to Osmania University, Hyderabad & approved by AICTE, New Delhi. 

The website says, "The ECE and Mechanical Engineering Departments have recognized Research Centers for Pursuing BE, ME, and Ph.D. programs of Osmania University at MJCET Campus. About 69 Research Scholars are presently pursuing Ph.D., whereas EEE, Civil, and CSE Engineering Departments have applied for Research Centers and waiting for the Approval from Osmania University."
