IIT Madras: CPM MP urges Dharmendra Pradhan to declare backlog vacancies
CPM MP Su Venkatesan urged Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to declare backlog vacancies reserved for OBC, SC, and ST candidates in the recruitment drive of teaching faculties at IIT Madras.
Su Venkatesan, CPM MP from Madurai, has written to the Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and urged him to declare backlog vacancies reserved for OBC, SC, and ST candidates in the recruitment drive being conducted for teaching faculties at IIT-Madras.
Through the letter, he alleged that the uncertainty shows the lack of conviction on the part of Central Education Institutions (CEIs) to resolve the issue, as reported by Indian Express.
The letter reads, "In the results of the Mission mode recruitment drive, I am informed only 23 out of 49 vacancies have been filled and remaining vacancies remain unfilled, citing the reason 'none found eligible'. To say none of the candidates from these categories is eligible is against social justice. It is simply an abdication of responsibility from the government."
Government cannot interfere in backlog vacancies, says Su Venkatesan
"I brought to your attention the backlog of vacancies in the Central University of Tamil Nadu at Tiruvarur, to which the reply came 'none found suitable' and 'inadequacy of applications'. Reservation is an obligation under the constitution," the letter added.
In April 2022, IIT Madras invited applications for Machine Learning Engineer. The vacancy was available in the project titled “Algorithm for Synthetic Vision System (SVS), Enhanced Vision System (EVS) and Automatic Target Recognition (ATR) implementation in a fighter aircraft”.
