JNTU Hyderabad postpones exams amid Telangana schools, colleges closure

The news regarding the postponement of the semester exams came as the State government declared holidays to all educational institutions until July 16, in view of the heavy rainfall forecast in the State.

JNTU-H exams postpone: Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU)-Hyderabad on July 13, Wednesday postponed the BTech/BPharm IV year II semester regular and supplementary examinations and BTech/BPharm III year II semester II midterm exams scheduled for July 16.

Telangana government declares holiday

The news regarding the postponement of the semester exams came as the State government declared holidays to all educational institutions until July 16, in view of the heavy rainfall forecast in the State.

Students must note that the rescheduled dates would be intimated soon, the varsity said, adding that the remaining university examinations scheduled from July 21 would be conducted as per the schedule already given.

Telangana schools, colleges have been directed to remain close in view of incessant rains in larger parts of the state. Both private and government schools are ordered to remain close until Monday. Telangana government on Wednesday has announced to keep educational institutions shut till Monday that is July 18. The decision was taken in a meeting chaired by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao with Education Minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy and Education department Secretary V Karun along with other officials.

An official circular released by the government states: "In view of continuing heavy rains and inimical weather conditions Government has decided to extend holidays for all educational institutions (Govt., Aided & Private) from 14.7.2022 to 16.7.2022 in the State. Educational Institutions shall be reopened from 18.07.2022 (Monday). "

Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) in Hyderabad has predicted heavy to very heavy rains for the next three days across the state. According to the IMD forecast, the isolated places in Asifabad, Mancherial, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Kothagudem, Warangal, Hanumakonda, Mahabubabad districts will receive heavy rainfall.
