Karnataka Universities to admit students through CUET

Vice-Chancellors of 25 universities have agreed to use CUET for admissions in BA, BSc, BCom and similar programmes.

After central universities, state universities are also coming forward to admit students through Common University Entrance Test (CUET). During a meeting with the Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC), as many as 25 state universities from Karnataka have agreed to use CUET.

The VCs have supported the introduction of CUET and have agreed to use CUET for admissions in BA, BSc, BCom and similar programmes.

Making the announcement, M Jagadesh Kumar, UGC Chairman wrote on Twitter: “Today I had a meeting with Vice-Chancellors of 25 State Universities from Karnataka to discuss Common University Entrance Test (CUET). The VCs have supported the introduction of CUET and have agreed to use CUET for admissions in BA, BSc, BCom and similar programmes.”

The CUET 2022, will be conducted in the month of July and will be a computer-based test that will be held in 13 languages- English, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi, Gujarati, Marathi, Odiya, Bengali, Assamese, Punjabi, and Urdu.

CUET 2022 Registration from April 6

The registration process for the Common Universities Entrance Test (CUET) 2022, formerly known as CUCET, for undergraduate courses in central universities will start on Wednesday, April 6, 2022, and will end on May 6. The registration process for admission to academic session 2022-23 was scheduled to commence on April 2 but was later postponed to April 6.

Candidates from all over India can register themselves for CUET 2022 through the official website of the National Testing Agency (NTA) nta.nic.in and cuet.samarth.ac.in.

Kumar earlier said that admission to undergraduate courses in all 45 central universities will be solely based on the CUET score, and Class 12 Board marks will not carry any weightage. However, the universities will be allowed to use the Board exam marks as an eligibility criterion for the test.
