Kazakhstan offers to accommodate Ukraine's returned medicos

Ukraine returned Indian medical students have been demanding to continue their medical studies in India. While the government is still to form a scheme to accommodate these students, other countries have come in support of these students.

The Kazakhstan Health Minister Azhar Giniyat said that the country is ready to accept Indian medical students who returned from the war-hit country Ukraine. He also revealed that India had officially requested the country to help these students as their future is uncertain at the moment, as reported by Kazinform.

The country is ready to accommodate nearly 200 Indian students in its medical universities and will also look into the possibility of providing dormitory accommodation to the Indian students.

Russian universities also offered support; Students not pleased

Earlier, Russia also extended its support to Ukraine's returned medicos and said that these students can continue their medical studies at the Russian universities.

Russia’s deputy chief of mission to India Roman Babushkin said, “Some medical students might have studied in Ukraine on a stipend or scholarship. Those students can avail the same stipend/scholarship in Russian universities. Some might have been studying in Ukraine universities by paying a fee of $4,000. But the average course fee in certain top-level universities in Russia would come to around $12,000. So, the students will be given admission in Russian universities that are on a par with those in Ukraine.”

However, the parents and the students are not keen on completing medical education in Russia as their medical degrees are not accepted in many countries. Also, the parents are not ready to send their kids again to the risky zone amid the ongoing war. As of now, the students are waiting for the Centre's response so that they can complete their clinical training in India itself.
