KGMU suspends 42 MBBS students for using unfair means in internal assessment

King George's Medical University (KGMU) has suspended as many as 42 students including six girls for using or being involved in unfair means in the internal assessment test for the MBBS final year. These students are suspended for eight weeks from classes and hostels.

During the exam, 21 junior MBBS students were caught giving examinations for their seniors. Reportedly, Professor Uma Singh, Dean of the Academic Department, took immediate cognizance of the matter and suspended 42 students.

KGMU's stringent action against junior and senior MBBS students

It was the biggest such action by KGMU after the year 2006 when 105 students were suspended for being involved in the large-scale violence on the campus.

Though no proof of money exchange has been found, the junior students were asked to give exams for senior students in the undergraduate internal assessment tests so that they can utilise the time to prepare for NEET PG 2022.

As per reports, the action was taken on the basis of the preliminary probe by the disciplinary committee under the direction of the vice-chancellor. There is also a provision for FIR in this case. The KGMU administration has for now only suspended everyone involved, but the university can also take more strict action against these students. The reports are also emerging that though the ragging has been subsided on the campus, juniors still came under pressure from the seniors.
