AIBE 19 Fees 2024: The Telangana High Court is set to hear a petition challenging the INR 3,500 fee imposed by the Bar Council of India (BCI) for registration in the 19th edition of the All India Bar Examination (AIBE-XXIX). The petition, filed by advocate Vijay Gopal, contests the AIBE XIX Fees 2024 on the grounds that it exceeds the permissible limits set by the Supreme Court in its ruling in the case *Gaurav Kumar vs Union of India*.

Gopal argues that the INR 3,500 fee for the mandatory AIBE exam violates the principles established by the Supreme Court, which had ruled that the enrolment fees charged by State Bar Councils and the BCI must not exceed the limits prescribed under Section 24(1)(f) of the Advocates Act, 1961. This provision sets an enrolment fee of INR 750 for general candidates and INR 125 for Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes candidates.

AIBE 19 Application Form Submission Window 2024 was closed on November 15, 2024. Candidates can fill the AIBE 19 Fees 2024 until November 18, 2024.

According to the petitioner, the BCI's fee for AIBE-XXIX is an arbitrary charge, as it is significantly higher than the enrolment fee and has no legislative justification. Gopal argues that the imposition of such a fee for a mandatory exam is unconstitutional and violates his rights under Article 14, which guarantees equality before the law. He further asserts that after the Supreme Court's ruling in *Gaurav Kumar*, any fee for such an exam must align with the fee structure set out in the Advocates Act.

The Telangana High Court has asked the BCI to respond to the petition, with the matter scheduled for further hearing on November 27 before Justice B. Vijaysen Reddy.
