Breaking! NLU Tripura cancels all admissions through CLAT 2022 on grounds of 'want of Domicile Quota'; To refund fees

In a strange turn of events, National Law University, Tripura has cancelled all the admissions done through CLAT 2022. Read here official notification

The National Law University, Tripura, has cancelled all admission done through the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) for academic year 2022-23. The newest addition to the list of National Law Universities and CLAT participating College, NLU Tripura has published a notification on the official website stating the reason for cancellation of admisisons. 

The notice stated: "In pursuant to the communication bearing no No.F.2 (309-10)-DHE/UDCA/2021(L)/3748(12) dated 16/12/2022 of the Director of Higher Education
Department, Govt of Tripura, the process initiated for the Academic session 2022-23 is here by cancelled on the ground of want of state domicile quota and the entrance /
admission fees, if any, collected or deposited be refunded to all the selected students immediately. The DDO NLU Tripura is to initiate necessary action for such refund."

All the students who confirmed their allotted seat by fee payment will be refunded full amount with immediate effect. However, the students have already lost one year, and did not secure admission anywhere else or even applied for CLAT 2023 (for which the exam has already been conducted on December 18, 2022). Students are reacting to the news on social media platforms:

Now, the CLAT Consortium will decide whether this decision can be reverted or remedy to be provided to all the cancelled admissions or not. 

CLAT 2023 answer key will be out on December 24, 2022, and the results will be declared in the last week of December only. The admission process of all NLUs accepting CLAT 2023 scores will be held from January 2023 onwards. 

NLU Tripura, being a participating college of CLAT, will also accept the admissions for academic year 2023-24.
