This year, that is in 2022, there will be 2 CLAT exams. CLAT 2022 and CLAT 2023 are to be held in the same year. This is happening for the first time ever in the history of the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT).
The Consortium of National Law Universities has decided to hold CLAT 2022 and CLAT 2023 in the same year. CLAT 2022 will be held on May 8, 2022, and CLAT 2023 will be held on December 18, 2022. This announcement has been made via the official notice on the website of CLAT, consortiumofnlus.ac.in.
Apart from that, the Consortium has also elected a new Executive Committee with the following members:
- Prof. Poonam Saxena, Vice-Chancellor, National Law University, Jodhpur taking over as President from the Outgoing President Prof. Faizan Mustafa.
- Professor Vijender Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur, elected as the Vice-President
- Professor VC Vivekanandan, ViceChancellor, Hidayatullah National Law University, Raipur, elected as CLAT Convenor, 2022.

Apart from that, from the upcoming CLAT sessions, the counselling fee is being also reduced. The revised fee has been reduced to INR 30,000 from INR 50,000 for the General category candidates and to INR 20,000 for ST/SC/OBC/BC/EWS/PWD and other reservation candidates.
The date of release of the online CLAT 2022 application form and other details are awaited. In the recent press release dated November 14, 2021, only the above-mentioned details have been intimated.
The Common Law Admission Test, or CLAT, is a national-level entrance exam conducted by the Consortium of NLUs for admission to undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) law programmes offered by 22 participating NLUs. Currently, UG courses are offered by all the 22 NLUs, while PG courses are offered at 19 NLUs. Some public organisations such as ONGC and BHEL also use CLAT-PG scores for recruitment
In 2021, 70,277 candidates applied for CLAT and 62,106 candidates finally took the test.
To apply for CLAT UG, the candidate must have passed 10+2 or any equivalent exam. For CLAT PG, the candidate must have passed the 5-year integrated or 3-year LLB exam. The minimum marks needed for both the applicants of the UG and PG exam is minimum marks of 45% for the general category candidates and 40% for the SC / ST candidates. There is no upper age limit to apply for CLAT UG and CLAT PG.
