CLAT 2025: NLU Consortium Appeals Delhi High Court's CLAT Result Revision Order

CLAT 2025 Result: The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLU Consortium) has filed an appeal before the Delhi High Court challenging the recent order of a single-judge bench that directed the revision of CLAT 2025 results due to errors in the question paper and answer key. The appeal, titled Consortium of National Law Universities vs Aditya Singh (Minor), was filed after Justice Jyoti Singh partly allowed a petition from a 17-year-old CLAT candidate concerning discrepancies in the exam paper.

On December 20, 2024, Justice Singh concluded that errors existed in two of the five questions flagged by the petitioner. The court criticized the errors and stated that it could not ignore such discrepancies. As a result, the court ordered that the CLAT results 2025 be revised to reflect correct marks for these two questions. The revision was to apply to all candidates who appeared for the exam.

The NLU Consortium has now filed an appeal, arguing that the single-judge bench acted outside its jurisdiction by taking the role of an expert. The Consortium's plea asserts that the CLAT answer key 2025 had been thoroughly reviewed by subject experts, and the court should not override the academic decisions made by these committees. The Consortium also emphasized the legal position that courts should not intervene in expert matters related to academic evaluations or competitive exams.

In response, the candidate who had filed the original plea has also appealed the decision, arguing that the single-judge bench only addressed two of the five flagged questions. The petitioner claims there are further mistakes in three other questions and is urging the court to revise the answers for those as well.

Both appeals are scheduled to be heard tomorrow by the Division Bench of the Delhi High Court.
