- Alternatively, candidates could choose to upgrade. With this choice, they can keep the seat that has already been assigned to them while also having the chance to be assigned to an NLU that is higher on their list of preferences.

Important factors affecting CLAT 2024 cut-offs
A number of variables influence the CLAT 2024 cutoff. The following significant variables will impact the CLAT 2024 cutoff:
- Candidates' NLU preferences: Seats will be distributed based on the candidates' NLU preferences. Only the NLUs that candidates have specified in their NLU preference list will be given consideration for admission. It was mandatory for candidates to indicate their preferred NLU when completing the CLAT 2024 application form.
- Candidates' marks and ranks: Admission is granted to candidates based on a combination of merit and preference. Higher ranking applicants have previously chosen prestigious NLUs like NLSIU Bengaluru and NALSAR Hyderabad. In light of this, the candidate's scores and matching CLAT ranking
-
Exam difficulty: Candidates will score highly on a less challenging CLAT 2024. Higher cutoffs are the result of this. Thus, the relationship between the CLAT cut off marks and the exam's difficulty is inverse.
-
Seats provided by NLUs: The NLUs provide roughly 1300 seats for LLM and more than 3,000 seats for 5-year LLB programmes. NLUs are only able to accept as many students as their intake capacity would allow.
- 8:19 AM IST• 8 Jan 2024
CLAT 2024 Counseling: Freeze, Float, and Exit option
During CLAT counseling, candidates can opt for one of three choices: freeze, float, or exit. These options are elucidated as follows:
Freeze Option: If a candidate is content with the allocated seat and does not wish to partake in subsequent counseling rounds, they may select the freeze option. By opting for this, the candidate confirms their seat at the designated National Law University (NLU), precluding consideration for additional counseling rounds.
Float Option: Candidates dissatisfied with the allotted seat, desiring further counseling rounds, can choose the float option. This allows acceptance of the current seat while expressing readiness to engage in subsequent counseling rounds for potential seat upgrades. If a candidate opting for float is assigned a seat in a subsequent round, the prior allocation is forfeited.
Exit Option: In case a candidate decides to discontinue participation in the counseling process, they may choose the exit option. By selecting this alternative, the candidate withdraws from the counseling process, and their name will not be considered for subsequent counseling rounds.
