Candidates have three options to select from during CLAT counselling: freeze, float, and exit. Below is an explanation of these options:

Freeze Option: A candidate may select this option if they are happy with the seat they have been given and do not want to take part in any more counselling sessions. By selecting this option, the candidate forfeits any chance to be considered for subsequent counselling rounds and confirms their seat at the designated National Law University (NLU).

Float Option: A candidate may select the float option if they would like to take part in more rounds of counselling and are dissatisfied with their assigned seat. By choosing this option, the candidate can accept the seat that has been assigned to them while also expressing their desire to take part in additional counselling sessions in order to obtain a better seat. The seat awarded in the previous round will be forfeited if a candidate choose the float option and is given a seat in a later round.

Exit Option: A candidate may select the exit option if, at any time during the counselling process, they decide not to continue. By selecting this option, the applicant will end the counselling process and have their name removed from consideration for any more therapy sessions.

Seats will be distributed to candidates during CLAT 2024. Applicants will be able to participate in the CLAT 2024 seat allocation procedure if they successfully completed the counselling registration. On December 26, the CLAT First Allotment list 2024 will be released. Below is the procedure for assigning seats:

• Initially, an NLU seat would be assigned by the exam authorities in accordance with the candidates' NLU preferences and rank.
• Once the admission fee for the relevant NLU has been paid, the candidates have the option to accept the seat and proceed with the admission process
• Alternatively, candidates could choose to upgrade. With this choice, they can keep the seat that has already been assigned to them while also having the chance to be assigned to an NLU that is higher on their list of preferences
• Candidates have the option to withdraw from the CLAT seat allocation procedure.

Registration for CLAT counselling in 2024 is done online. Candidates needed to register on the official website of the NLU consortium before taking the CLAT. The procedure to finish registering for CLAT counselling is as follows:

Login to CLAT Account: Candidates must access their CLAT accounts via the consortiumofnlus.ac.in official website to register for the CLAT counselling

Payment of Counselling Fees: Upon logging in, candidates must pay the registration money for CLAT counselling by selecting the "Make Payment" button. Candidates from the general category must pay INR 30,000, while those from the SC/ST must pay INR 20,000.

Complete the Details: Applicants must provide their contact information, educational background, and any other pertinent details.

Download Application Form: Candidates must save the application form for their records after completing the registration process.

Candidates can add NLU preference for CLAT 2024 while filling out the CLAT 2024 Application Form. Check steps below:

• Login to your CLAT account.
• Click on “update preferences” tab in the dashboard
• Fill the preferences according to your choice

Incorporating NLU preferences is a crucial component of CLAT counselling 2024. Candidates may indicate their preferences for NLUs when submitting the CLAT 2024 application form. It should be emphasised that only those NLUs where candidates added preferences during the designated period will be given consideration for admission. No other NLU will be considering them for admission. Candidates were required to add at least five NLU preferences by logging into their CLAT accounts. The maximum amount of NLU preferences that a candidate may add is not limited.

CLAT 2024 counselling fee is INR 20,000 for SC/ST/OBC/BC/EWS/PWD and INR 30,000 for general/OBC categories. Only online payments via the law entrance exam's official website are accepted for the CLAT counselling 2024. To ensure their position, candidates must pay the CLAT Counselling Fee 2024. The remaining cost for the course, which includes the tuition price and additional refundable and non-refundable fees, must be paid by the candidates after this. Candidates will receive a refund of their money if they decide to withdraw or leave their assignment after they freeze or float and have already paid the counselling price.

Candidates must note that the CLAT 2024 Seat Intake has not been revised, however, CLAT 2024 reservation criteria has been changed for Gandhinagar National Law University (GNLU), Silvassa. As per the revised GNLU reservation criteria 2024, the Domicile Reservation Category has been included for candidates living in the Dadar and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu Union territories. Candidates who appeared for UG and PG courses must go to official website of CLAT 2024 portal and update the reservation category accordingly.

Candidates will be given the option to choose from three options; i.e. freeze, float and exit. Candidates can understand all options below:

Freeze Option: In case a candidate is happy with the seat alloted to him/her then they can freeze it. With this they won't be allowed to appear in the further rounds of counselling. If a candidate freezes the seat, it means that the candidate is confirming their seat at the allotted National Law University (NLU).

Float Option: If a candidate is not happy with the seat allotted to them and wants to pariticpate in further rounds of counselling they can select the float option. This option mean that candidate is accepting the seat allotted to them but is willing to pariticpate in further rouns of counselling for a better college. Candidate must note that in case they choose the float option and is allotted a seat in the next round then the seat allotted in the previous round will be forfeited.

Exit Option: During the counselling process, if a candidate feels that they don't want to pariticipate further, then they may choose an option to exit. If they choose this option, it means that they are withdrawing from the counselling process and they will not be considered for further round of counselling. 

The consortium will hold a mop-up round of seat allocation to fill any open seats if after the five rounds of seat allotment there are still CLAT 2024 openings for admission. Applicants may apply for the CLAT 2024 mop-up round if they were not selected for admission in the first five rounds of the exam.

Candidates can check the status of their CLAT Seat allotment by logging in to their CLAT Candidate Portal 2024. In case, an NLU has rejected a seat allotted to a candidate in the previous seat allotment list, candidates can check the status of the same. In case their status still shows rejected, candidates must contact the concerned NLU. Once the candidates chooses the EXIT option in the CLAT seat allotment 2024, they will not be allowed to participate in other rounds of seat allotment. 

In addition to uploading the aforementioned papers, candidates must pay the appropriate cost for the NLU they have been given during CLAT seat allocation 2024. The individual institutes will specify the NLU Fee structure for 2024. Applicants will only be considered for admission if they have uploaded the proper paperwork and paid the necessary cost. Those who don't comply will not be considered for admission in the designated NLU.

CLAT Counselling Dates 2024 were revised by the Consortium. Earlier, the CLAT Counselling Registration 2024 dates was from December 12 to December 22, 2023. However, later the Consortium revised the CLAT Counselling Registration dates 2024. Candidates could register from December 12 to December 20, 2023.

As per the CLAT 2024 Exam Analysis, the CLAT Exam 2024 was comparatively easier than last year. CLAT Cut-off 2024 is expected to go higher. As per the experts, the 105+ marks is a good score to get admission in top 10 NLUs. However, the CLAT cut-off ranks 2024 is expected to remain largely similar to the previous year.
