ILS Law College Pune plans to establish centre for distance education

As India Law Society College Pune completed 98 years yesterday, it plans to establish a centre for distance education.

On June 20, India Law Society College (ILS) Pune completed 98 years. The college was affiliated with Mumbai University before being part of the Pune University (Savitribai Phule Pune University) in 1949.

As the institute will enter its centennial year, it plans to establish a centre for distance education and also start administrative training for officers. 

Professor Deepa Paturkar, the officiating principal of ILS Pune, said, “As formal training in good governance is important, our ILS Centre for Training for Good Governance will teach the subject to administrative officers,” as reported by Hindustan Times.

ILS Law College - Other Details

In 1991, ILS Law college started diploma courses in housing law and consumer protection law. It also has a department known as the Centre for Health Equity Law and Policy that focuses on research on HIV-positive and LGBT groups. Another health-related department is the Centre for Mental Health Law and Policy started in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO).

“Both health-based institutes of the Indian Law Society — Centre for Mental Health Law and Policy and Centre for Health Equity Law and Policy — function on a right-based approach as health being a basic human right,” added Deepa Paturkar.

ILS Pune celebrates International Yoga Day 2022 today

The institute today celebrated International Yoga Day 2022 by organising an online session on Ashtanga Yog and Dharma between 12 noon to 1 pm. The session was conducted by Asheet Ambekar, a leading exponent of the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali.
