MH CET LAW 2024 Eligibility: The Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test Cell has released an important notification for the students who will be graduating from an open university with the preparatory exam. As per the MH CET Law 2024 eligibility criteria, such candidates will be allowed to appear for MH 3-year LLB admission 2024 Exam.

The move was introduced after the Bombay High Court in its order in 2022 changed the MH LLB 3-year eligibility criteria and lifted the ban for open university graduates to participate in the centralised admission process. “Candidates who have completed their graduation through Open University with preparatory examination are allowed to complete the CET application form and to participate in the Centralized Admission Process for LLB 3 Yrs Course,” the CET Cell announced in the latest notification.

Such candidates must fill the MH 3-year LLB 2024 Application Form on or before the deadline. Earlier the MAH CET Cell had extended the last date to register for the Maharashtra CET 3-year LLB. Candidates can now apply by visiting the official website; i.e. cetcell.mahacet.org, on or before February 10.

MH 3-year LLB CET: Eligibility

The eligibility criteria for 3-year LLB admission in Maharashtra was changed after Vishnu Harishchandre filed a petition in 2021 after he was not granted admission as he completed his bachelor’s degree in commerce from Yashwantrao Chavan Open University, Nashik, in 2008. He was not allowed to enroll as the Bar Council of India (BCI) had earlier did not recognise degrees awarded through distance education. However, in 2022, the Bombay HC revised the eligibility criteria.

As per the high court’s order, the CET Cell has now announced that aspirants who have completed degrees through open universities are now eligible for 3-year LLB admission. “The qualifications of 10th, 12th (+2) and graduation may be obtained through any mode (Distance / Correspondence / Open schooling method) are eligible for LL.B.- 3 Year CET-2024,” the information brochure read. The MH LLB 3-year CET exam 2024 will be held on March 12 and 13.
