National Law School of India University (NLSIU) will intake 60 students in its new three year LLB program to start from the academic session 2022-23.
Shiksha.com reported earlier that the National Law School of India University (NLSIU) is planning to launch a three year LLB (Bachelor of Law) program from the next academic year, as confirmed by Sudhir Krishnaswamy, Vice-Chancellor of NLSIU, Bengaluru. Now, the latest is the course will start with an intake of 60 students from the academic year 2022-2023.
Three year LLB will start in July 2022 and students will have to qualify for an entrance examination for taking admission to that course.
The course is approved by the Bar Council and would be a good choice for students who are looking for a professional course in law after their graduation but do not want to go for an integrated five years course. The admission schedule is expected to be announced by next week.
Professor Aparna, NLSIU said, "In addition to the 24 core courses mandated by the Bar Council of India (BCI) the regulatory body of the institute, the three-year course will also have electives and interdisciplinary core courses. The pedagogical approach of participatory learning is a replica of the one that is implemented in the five-year BA LLB programme. But unlike the five-year course, here students won't learn different disciples in themselves, but they will be taught as perspectives on how one studies the law."
"You can take analytical, reasoning skillset from law and apply that to other fields. And likewise, you can take from history techniques such as historiography and apply them to the study of law. Or for instance use tools of political science and apply them to the study of law. Law and economics is a thriving field," she added, as reported by The New Indian Express.
