NLSIU is all set to organise an international virtual conference on 'New Facets Of Consumer Protection: Challenges And Way Forward' on November 19.

NLSIU to hold International Conference on Consumer Protection on Nov 19

The Chair for Consumer Law and Practice (CLAP), National Law School of India University, Bengaluru is organising the International Conference on ‘New Facets on Consumer Protection Challenges and the Way Forward’ on November 19, 2022. The conference is being organised in association with the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, GoI.

The one-day conference will be hosted via Zoom and will involve an inaugural session followed by six parallel sessions and the valedictory session. 

Main themes of the Conference

The agenda of the conference will mainly focus on the following themes:

  • Consumer Protection with respect to the Sale of Goods and services through social media platforms;
  • Consumer Protection from Fake Reviews on E-Commerce Portals;
  • Consumer Protection & Fall Back Liability
  • Imposing service charges on Consumers for the services rendered at Hotels and Restaurants;
  • Recognition of the Right to Repair as a Consumer Right;
  • Assessment of Consumer Protection in India in par with International Best Practices
  • Sustainable Consumerism
  • Settlement of Cross Border Consumer Disputes
  • Dark patterns and Consumer Protection

NLSIU Graduate Arti Gupta Wins 2022 Audre Rapoport Prize

Arti Gupta, BA LLB 2022, bagged the Audre Rapoport Prize for Scholarship on Gender and Human Rights. She was awarded the prize for her essay titled, “The Unhappy Marriage of ‘Queerness’ and ‘Culture’: The Present Implications of Fixating on the Past.”

The Audre Rapoport Prize is awarded every year by the Rapoport Center to the winner of an interdisciplinary writing competition on international human rights and gender. This $1,250 prize honours the work of Audre Rapoport (1923-2016), who advocated for women in the United States and internationally, particularly on issues of reproductive health.
