RMLNLU's freshers complain of ragging by seniors

First-year students of RMLNLU have lodged a complaint with UGC against their seniors about ragging, read here to know more.

The freshers of the Dr Ram Manohar Lohia National Law University (RMLNLU) have lodged a complaint with the University Grants Commission regarding the alleged ragging by their seniors. A copy of the complaint letter is circulating on social media.

KA Pandey, the chief proctor said, “The students registered their complaint on November 14 and on November 16 on the anti-ragging helpline of UGC had sent the complaint to the university for probe and action against the guilty. The matter is being investigated," as reported by Hindustan Times.

“This is an anonymous complaint on behalf of many first-year students of the university. The freshers alleged that they are constantly being ragged even though they have their exams. The CCTV footage of the ground floor for the last 4-5 days is being looked at,” Pandey added.

Ragging allegations against RMLNLU's seniors

The first-year students have alleged that seniors, especially second-year students, enter their rooms forcefully and rag and harass them. As per the victims, the seniors constantly harass them, do not let them roam on the campus and make them do a lot of work like cleaning seniors' rooms on the second floor of the UG Boys hostel, filling up their water campers, and cooking food for seniors.

The students have filed an anonymous complaint and asked the university to check CCTV footage of the hostels' ground floor as evidence.
