Madhya Pradesh Medical Education Minister tests Covid positive

Amid the ongoing third wave of Covid-19, Madhya Pradesh Medical Education Minister Vishvas Kailash Sarang was found Covid positive, he is under home isolation.

While the positivity rate of Covid-19 in Madhya Pradesh has increased from 0.20% to 5.1% since the beginning of the month, the state Medical Education Minister Vishvas Kailash Sarang has been found Covid 19 positive on Thursday. He is under home isolation on the advice of doctors.

He tweeted to confirm, "After noticing the initial symptoms of Covid-19, today I got myself tested and the test came as positive. I have isolated myself on the advice of doctors. I request everyone who came in contact with me in the last two days and having symptoms, must get tested."

On Thursday, the state reported as many as 4,031 cases that took the total tally to 8,14,473 and after 3 more Covid-19 related death, the death toll is increased to 10,543. Nearly 782 people got discharged from the hospital and the recovery count stood at 7,86,278. Total 78,240 samples were examined during the day and the overall test count in the state is now 2,45,93,299. 

As per the official release, 10,67,20,192 Covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered so far in Madhya Pradesh including 2,44,943 on Thursday.

India has added 2.64 lakh new cases in the last 24 hours, the highest in 239 days. Deaths due to the pandemic increased by 315 and the total death toll stood at 485,350. As per the health ministry, India has witnessed an increase of 4.83% of Omicron cases since Thursday as it has reported 5,753 cases of the Omicron variant today.
