Maharashtra school reopening will take place with COVID-19 safety protocols in place. However, wearing mask is not mandatory for all.
Maharashtra School Reopening: Despite the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the state, Maharashtra Schools Education Department has decided to reopen schools as per the decided schedule. Maharashtra state school Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad has confirmed that reopening of schools will take place on June 15, 2022. Speaking to the media, she has said that Maharashtra Schools reopening would begin on June 15, 2022, as per schedule.
However, the school reopening will take place with COVID-19 safety protocols in place. According to a tweet posted by ANI, school Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad has said that while COVID-19 protocols will be in place, masks will not be mandatory for everyone. Further, the state is also expected to release fresh COVID-19 related Standard Operating Procedures, SOPs.
According to ANI, Varsha Gaikwad said, "We're taking stock of COVID situation, cases rising, but we'll open schools on June 15 with COVID appropriate measures.Masks not mandatory. New SOPs to be issued to schools. Further decision to be taken in accordance with situation."
Meanwhile, COVID cases have witnessed a sharp spike in State. Cases reported in Mumbai have crossed the 800 case mark on Saturday and then again on Sunday. Updates on Maharashtra Schools reopening are still awaited.
However, so far the health department is continuously keeping an eye on the severity of the cases. The state’s facility has been amped but the number of hospitalizations continue to be on the lower side. According to BMC, 95% of the cases were asymptomatic. People, however, are urged to follow COVID-appropriate behavior.
Gaikwad has said that the decision on reopening of school will be reviewed as per the changing scenario and pandemic situation.
