Breaking News! IIMC Granted Deemed University Status; Now Eligible to offer Degrees

IIMC Deemed University Status: In a pivotal move, the Education Ministry on January 31, 2024, granted the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) a deemed university status. With this status, IIMC now has the authority to award degrees, which is a massive advancement from its previous diploma-granting capacity. The status extends to IIMC New Delhi and its five regional campuses which are located in Jammu (Jammu and Kashmir), Amravati (Maharashtra), Aizawl (Mizoram), Kottayam (Kerala), and Dhenkanal (Odisha). IIMC has released an official statement on its website - iimc.nic.concerning the same.
IIMC is scheduled to start the registration for language journalism programmes in Odia, Marathi, Malayalam, and Urdu from tomorrow. Check more details related to the IIMC Deemed University Status and how will it benefit the upcoming mass communication aspirants.

This decision will benefit the desirous mass communication aspirants who were previously getting only the PG Diploma certificate after completion of their programme, now after the deemed university status they will receive a degree for their course.

About IIMC
The Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) is a media institute that was established on August 17, 1965. It has its main center in New Delhi followed by five regional centers in all over India. Earlier, IIMC was an autonomous society under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. and offered PG Diploma courses in media subjects like Journalism (Hindi, English, Oriya, Urdu, Marathi and Malayalam), Radio and Television, Advertising and Public Relations.
