Delhi University’s Delhi School of Journalism commences new session with faculty induction
The department offers a five-year integrated programme, FYIPJ, and a two-year Masters level programme.
The new academic session 2023-24 of the Delhi School of Journalism (DSJ), University of Delhi, began with a Faculty Induction cum Interaction session. The department offers a five-year integrated programme and a two-year Masters level programme.
DSJ offers a Five-Year Integrated Program in Journalism (FYIPJ) with special emphasis on languages (both foreign and vernacular). The students also have an exit option after the completion of Bachelor of Journalism (BJ) or continue with Master of Journalism (MJ). It also offers a Master of Journalism program is a two-year course where students are awarded the Degree of Master of Journalism (MJ) after the successful completion of the program.
The program is bilingual, i.e. instructions are offered in both English and Hindi as applicable.
Prafulla Ketkar, editor of the Organizer weekly magazine, addressed the faculty members as a special invitee on the occasion. Praful Ketkar in his address laid stress on the importance of innovative teaching pedagogy and methods to tackle various challenges pertaining to teaching and learning. He also underlined the significance of resorting to the skills which unsettled the status quo and promoted a new enquiry.
The Honorary Director of Delhi School of Journalism, Prof. J.P. Dubey briefed the faculty members about the course curriculum and school functioning. The session was interactive and faculty members shared their own insights as well.
Earlier a brief orientation of the foreign students of the upcoming first-year journalism course were also briefed about the course curriculum and changing trends in journalism.
Delhi School of Journalism was started by the University of Delhi in the year 2017 with a vision to identify and nurture aspiring journalists and enable them to become a driving force for a quality-driven public sphere and information economy and thereby promote democracy and development in the truest sense.
