Haridev Joshi University to offer BA-JMC Course

In Rajasthan, this is for the first time that an undergraduate course in journalism will be provided by a public varsity. On the basis of written examination, the admission will be given to the candidates. 

Haridev Joshi University of Journalism and Mass Communication (HJU) in Rajasthan is slated to offer an undergraduate programme that is going to commence from this year. The programme, BA-Journalism and Mass Communication or BA-JMC is slated to be introduced in the present academic session, 2020-21, beginning from July. For admission to the BA-JMC course, the minimum qualification that a candidate must have is Class 12 pass in any branch. On the basis of written examination, the admission will be given to the candidates. The written examination will assess the students' general knowledge, understanding of society and politics and knowledge of languages.

In Rajasthan, this is for the first time that an undergraduate course in journalism will be provided by a public varsity. The BA-JMC syllabus would consist of chapters on PR, advertising, film and documentary, photography, design and layout, graphic, print, radio-TV, digital, online and social media, animation etc. This information was provided by HJU Vice-Chancellor Om Thanvi in a statement. According to him, these BA classes will be held in the academic campus of Khasa Kothi of the university. The university will also begin Ph.D. programmes in the coming academic session.

The university is also looking to commence Diploma courses such as Diploma in Desktop Publishing, Diploma in TV Production, Diploma in Photography, Diploma in Practical Hindi, Diploma in Functional English, and Diploma in Development Communication. These courses will be of six months duration. Along with this, the university has many other plans for the benefits of the student community.
