IIMC Admissions 2020: Entrance exam scrapped, First semester classes to be held online
IIMC has announced that this year it will be conducting admission on the basis of the marks scored by the students in the Class 10th, 12th and graduation.
IIMC Admissions 2020: Indian Institute of Mass Communications has announced that it will not conduct the entrance test this year, owing to the coronavirus situation in the country. The premier institute for media education, an autonomous institute under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has decided to not conduct the entrance exam for all the eight post-graduate diploma courses offered in its six regional centres, for the session 2020-21. The institute will give admission on the basis of the marks scored by the students in the Class 10th, 12th and graduation, followed by an online interview.
"Instead of the traditional mode of entrance test, that IIMC has been resorting to in the past, it has been decided to adopt an admission process for all the courses this year, in which more weightage is given to the marks scored by candidates in qualifying examinations, up to Graduation level, including Intermediate and Matriculation examinations, followed by an online interview to be conducted by IIMC. Accordingly, there will be no entrance test for any of the courses in IIMC, this year," the institute said in a statement. A detailed notification on marks based admission process will be out by July 30.
The IIMC admission form for all courses - Hindi Journalism, English Journalism, Radio and TV Journalism, Advertisement and Public Relations- is expected to be released anytime by August 1, Raghuvinder Chawla, Academic Coordinator, IIMC told Shiksha.com.
IIMC will commence the classes for the first semester online, to avoid any academic loss due to the closure of the institute due to coronavirus outbreak. “The first semester of all PG Diploma courses will be conducted in online mode only, in this academic year. It is expected from all the prospective students that they have access to a good quality laptop or computer with the strong internet connection at home or their place of stay,” the notification read.
