CAT 2020 exam conducted on November 29 recorded attendance of about 1.90 lakh applicants. About 2.27 lakh candidates had registered for CAT exam this year. Read details.

In the recently released document, IIM Indore has informed that about 1.90 lakh applicants appeared for CAT 2020 exam held on November 29. Earlier, IIM Indore Director Himanshu Rai had shared that amid COVID-19 pandemic around 83.5 per cent candidates appeared CAT for this year.

CAT 2020 convener Prof. Harshal Lowalekar shared the data on student attendance in the exam.  According to the data out of the total 2,27,835 candidates registered for the exam. Among these 2.27 lakh candidates, 1.47 lakh were males and about 80,000 were females. The total number of test takers in all the three slots recorded on the CAT exam day was 1,90,143. Shift wise, minimum attendance was registered in the first shift (8:30 AM to 10:30 AM). Attendance of students in second and third shift was nearly equal.

CAT 2020 exam was conducted on November 29 at 430 exam centres in 156 cities across India. The exam was conducted amid all the COVID-19 protocols and no lapse in safety measures were reported from any test centre.  

The CAT question paper was of moderate difficulty level. However, students found VARC and DILR tough as always.

CAT 2020: Slot wise Attendance

According to the data provided by IIM Indore, about 12,000 candidates remained absent in every exam slot and the average number of students who appeared for CAT 2020 ranged between 59,000 to 65,000.

What After CAT 2020?

CAT 2020 answer keys will be released soon so the candidates will get to know how they have performed in the exam. CAT 2020 result will be announced in the second week of January 2021 after which IIM shortlisting process will begin for Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI). Those who feel they haven’t really performed as per expectation and feel that chances of getting an IIM is dim, they can appear for other national level MBA entrance exams to get a good MBA college. Registrations for XAT 2021 and IIFT 2021 are currently open. Candidates can also take other exams such as MAT and CMAT.
