All Time High Registrations for CAT 2023; 3.3 Lakh Applications Received

CAT 2023 registration breaks record. This year, the total number of CAT applications received has touched an all-time high of 3.3 lakhs. This is the highest ever registration numbers for the CAT ever since its inception.

CAT registrations recorded an all-time high of 3.3 lakhs for the 2023 exam. According to IIM Lucknow, the CAT 2023 convening institute, 3.3 lakh applications have been received up from 2.5 lakh last year, an increase of 30%.

"Registrations this year are the highest in the history of CAT, ever since it was started in 1977. In fact, it never touched the 3-lakh mark before. In absolute numbers, an increase of 75,000 applications, year-on-year, is a record in itself," CAT 2023 convener Prof Sanjeet Singh of IIM-Lucknow said.

This is the highest ever registration numbers for the CAT ever since its inception.  "Registrations this year are the highest in the history of CAT, ever since it was started in 1977. In fact, it never touched the 3 lakh mark before. In absolute numbers, an increase of 75,000 applications, year-on-year, is a record in itself," Prof Singh told a leading daily.

Last year, the CAT recorded 2.5 lakh registrations which was 11% higher from the previous year.  

“I believe increased publicity about CAT on social media platforms, and adding more test cities, with an increase in the exam centres, particularly in tier-II cities, have resulted in highest-ever registration,” Prof Sanjeet Singh added.

Of the total 3.3 lakh CAT applications, 1.17 lakh or 38% are female. There has been an increase of 3% in female registrations,”… “Till 2008, CAT was a pen and paper test, that year around 2.9 lakh applicants had registered which was the previous highest number of registrations. The first computer based test was held in 2009.” he further added.

CAT 2023 is scheduled on November 26 in 155 cities across the country. The CAT 2023 registration last date was September 21. The CAT form correction window will open most likely today.
