CAT 2022 Live Updates; Slot 1, 2 & 3 Exam Analysis, Answer Key, Question Paper, Expected Cutoff

CAT 2022 result will be announced most likely in the first week of January 2023. The CAT 2022 result announcement date has not been announced by IIM Bangalore. Candidates will be notified via SMS about the CAT result declaration.

CAT 2022 Answer Keys Slot 1, 2 and 3 will be released officially withith 4-5 days. The official CAT 2022 answer key will be released with candidate response sheet and question paper. However, memory based CAT answer keys are not available on internet and social media. Shiksha will provide CAT 2022 answer key soon. 

• VARC: A score of 40-42 is good enough for a 99 percentile
• DILR: A score of 26-27 marks is ideal for a 99 percentile
• QA: A score of 30-33 would be ideal for a 99 percentile

Overall, the CAT Slot 3 was moderate to difficult 

VARC had four RC passages - 2 were easy and 2 were tough

CAT 2022 question paper for slot 1, 2 and 3 will release along with the official answer key in the next few days. One can expected that the CAT 2022 question paper will be available for download from December 5 onwards. Official announcement will be made by IIM Bangalore soon.

CAT 2022 exam score is converted into percentile for result preparation. The MBA colleges, select students for GD/PI and admission on the basis of their CAT percentile which is mentioned i in the CAT scorecard. In order, to calculate the percentiles, the examination body converts raw scores of candidate into CAT scaled scores so that candidates from across the three slots are judged on the same plane. This score is then coverted into CAT percentile through the following formula:

P = (R/N) × 100

where,

P= Percentile score

R= Rank of the candidate assigned on the basis of scaled CAT score or total number of candidates who rank below you.

N= Number of candidates who appeared in CAT exam (all three sessions)

• In VARC, 40-42 can be considered enough for 99 percentile.
• In DILR, a score of 30-32 can fetch 99 percentile.

CAT 2022 Slot 3 has commenced. This is the final slot for CAT exam this year. Nearly 2 lakh candidates are expected to have appeared for all the three slots of this national level entrance exam for MBA admission.

• RC 2 Topic- Engineering Technology (easy)
• RC 3 Topic: Octopus (easy )
• -RC 4: Philosophy (abstract, tough)

Here’s the overall difficulty level of CAT 2022 slot 2.

• CAT Slot 2 VARC was moderate with complex language
• CAT Slot 2 Quantitative Aptitude was tougher than Slot 1
• CAT Slot 2 DILR was moderate to tough

The third and final slot of CAT 2022 will start at 4:30 PM. The CAT 2022 Slot 3 is also expected to be of the same difficulty level as Slot 1 and Slot 2. The CAT 2022 Slot 3 analysis will be available after 7 PM.

CAT 2022 Slot 2 got over at 2:30 PM. Candidates have started to come out of the examination centre. The next batch of test takerr, i.e. for CAT 2022 Slot 3 have started arriving at the test centres as the reporting time for CAT slot 3 is 3:00 PM.

CAT 2022 Slot 1 DILR section was easy to moderate level of difficulty. There were four sets of five questions each.

CAT 2022 Slot 1 VARC section had maximum questions on RC. The Odd Sentence Out questions were replaced by para completion. Check the composition of VARC below:

CAT 2022 slot 2 exam is underway. Half time is over and the exam will get over at 2:30 PM. The paper is expected to be of moderate difficulty level. 

Scores for 99 percentile:

• Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC): 37-38
• Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DILR): 30-32
• Quantitative Ability (QA): 40- 42 

Given that the first slot of CAT 2022 was moderate, the second slot is expected to be moderate too. There will be more questions on RC passages and Arithmetic. 

As per the experts, the first slot of CAT 2022 exam was of moderate difficulty level. Section-wise, CAT Slot 1 VARC, DILR sections were easy to moderate. Quantitative Aptitude sections were moderate. As per experts, an overall raw score of 98 to 99 should fetch a 99%ile in CAT 2022.

CAT 2022 Slot 2 has started now. The question paper of the second slot will be same as the first slot in terms of pattern, structure and difficulty levels, but the questions will be different.

CAT 2022 Slot 2 paper will start in 30 minutes from now. The identification and frisking process is over at the test centres and now candidates will be heading to the test lab. Entry gates are closed now.

The first section of CAT 2022 question paper is VARC, the second section is DILR and the third section is Quantitative Aptitude.

As per Career Launcher, VARC was easy to moderate, with a para completion in place of the odd-sentence-out questions. DILR was easy to moderate with 4 sets with 5 questions in each set. Quantitative Aptitude was moderate to difficult Arithmetic being the dominant topic.

CAT 2022 Slot 2 will be held from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM. There will be no bio breaks. 40 minutes will be allotted to each section. For PwD candidates, the sectional time limit is 53 minutes and 20 seconds per section.

Like CAT 2022 Slot 1, the same identification process will be followed for allowing entry to candidates for CAT 2022 Slot 2. Candidates will have to show their admit card and documents to gain entry.

Candidates for CAT 2022 Slot 2 have started reaching their exam centres as the reporting time for them was 11 AM. Entry inside the test centre is underway.

As per the candidates who appeared for the test, the CAT exam was moderate to tough. Some students felt the VARC section was tough, whereas some thought that LR questions were tough. Quantitative Aptitude section was usual like every year, they said.

Composition of CAT 2022 Slot 1 DILR Section

The CAT 2022 Slot 1 DILR section is likely to have 12 Data Interpretation questions and 8 Logical Reasoning sections. The topics will be known after the first session.

Composition of CAT 2022 Slot 1 Quantitative Aptitude section

The CAT 2022 Slot 1 Quantitative Aptitude section is likely to be dominated by Arithmetic questions, followed by Algebra and Geometry.

Composition of CAT 2022 Slot 1 VARC section

The CAT 2022 Slot 1 VARC section is likely to have 4 to 5 RC passages having about 16 questions. Rest of the 8 questions will be from VA that will include parajumbles and fill in the blanks.

CAT 2022 Slot 1 is over now. The examination centre that Shiksha team visited did not witness any technical glitch or inconvenience during the online test. Students will start coming out of the test lab soon. Shiksha will share CAT 2022 slot 1 student reactions and exam analysis here soon.

The CAT 2022 slot 1 paper is about to get over in 15 minutes. Candidates will start exiting the test lab 10:40 am onwards. The CAT 2022 slot 2 will begin at 12:30 PM, for which students have started reaching the test centres.

It has been usually seen that the first slot of the CAT exam is usually tougher or it seems tougher because it is the first session of the day. However, it may happen that candidates get tougher questions in the second or third shift.

One hour of the CAT 2022 Slot 1 is over. The exam is underway at about 400 test centres. By now, VARC section is over and half of DILR section would be completed.

For every correct attempt, the candidate will get 3 marks and for every incorrect attempt, 1 mark will be deducted. There is no negative marking for non-MCQ questions. Candidates will be marked 0 for unanswered questions.

CAT 2022 question paper will have questions from VARC, DILR and Quantitative Aptitude. The important topics are:

• VARC: Reading Comprehension, Para Jumbles, Para Summary and Odd Sentence Out
• DILR: Set Theory (Variables), Set Theory Puzzles, Puzzles with Additional Data, Coding-Decoding and Series
• Quantitative Aptitude: Number System, Algebra, Arithmetic, Geometry and Mensuration

The CAT 2022 question paper has the following sectional break up. The number of questions per section are:

• VARC – 24 questions
• DILR – 20 questions
• QA – 22 questions

The exact composition will be known after the first shift of the exam ends at 10:30 AM.

CAT 2022 sectional time limit is 40 minutes per section. For PwD candidates, the sectional time limit is 53 minutes and 20 seconds per section. The computer screen will automatically move to the next section once the clock reads 0 minutes left.

CAT 2022 Slot 1 has started at the designated test centres and will be conducted for 2 hours. There will be no bio breaks in between. Candidates will be allowed to leave the test lab only after submitting the rough sheet after 10:30 AM.

The entry gates of the CAT exam centres have been closed. All the test takers have entered the premises. No more entry is allowed. The CAT 2022 exam starts in 14 minutes.

All the candidates for shift 1 have entered the premises. Candidates can carry only the admit card and photo ID inside the exam centres. Parents and guardians have to wait for their wards outside.

Candidates need to present the following documents at the exam centre during the identification process. Two copies of CAT 2022 admit card and one of the following documents in original:

The reporting time for CAT 2022 Slot 1 is 7 AM. All the candidates who have been allotted the morning slot for taking the test have to reach their designated test centres by 7 AM. The identification process will begin from 7:05 AM.
