IIM Bangalore SummitUp 2024 focused on critical themes such as Tech & DeepTech, Governance, Impact, Funding, and the Gender Lens, drawing over 300 startup founders, industry experts, and entrepreneurship enthusiasts.

SummitUp 2024, organized by NSRCEL at IIM Bangalore, has successfully concluded, delivering vital insights and discussions aimed at shaping the future of entrepreneurship in India. This year’s summit focused on critical themes such as Tech & DeepTech, Governance, Impact, Funding, and the Gender Lens, drawing over 300 startup founders, industry experts, and entrepreneurship enthusiasts.

Launch of the ‘India Incubator Kaleidoscope 2024’ Report

A key highlight of the event was the launch of the ‘India Incubator Kaleidoscope 2024’ report, developed in collaboration with IIT Madras. The report highlights the crucial role of incubators in accelerating startup growth, increasing funding opportunities, and enhancing overall resilience. Notably, it reveals that incubated startups are 2.5 times more likely to secure funding and contribute significantly to job creation and economic growth. This report is expected to impact both policy and practice within the startup landscape.

Emphasizing Innovation and Collaboration

Anand Sri Ganesh, CEO of NSRCEL, emphasized the significance of the summit, stating, “We are thrilled to host the third edition of NSRCEL's SummitUp, a platform that celebrates the innovation and collaboration vital to our startup ecosystem. By empowering startups, we create jobs and invigorate local economies, inspiring future generations. Together, we can turn challenges into opportunities and make a meaningful impact.”

Keynote Addresses from Influential Leaders

The summit kicked off with a keynote from Shri Amitabh Kant, G20 Sherpa and former CEO of NITI Aayog, who stressed the importance of fostering entrepreneurial disruption to address governance and funding challenges on India’s journey to becoming a $30 trillion economy.

Day two featured a keynote by Vipul Parekh, Co-Founder of bigbasket.com. His address, “Founding the Vision: Navigating Milestones, Challenges, and the Journey of Building a Startup,” provided actionable insights on creating customer-centric products and fostering a strong, team-oriented culture essential for startup growth.

Engaging Panel Discussions

Among the engaging discussions was "Cracking the Code: Key Reasons Why VCs Walk Away," led by prominent venture capitalists including Piyush Bansal and Parag Dhol. This session delved into why some startups struggle to secure funding, highlighting the importance of solid business fundamentals and realistic growth models.

At the national level, NIRF ranked IIM-B at the second position for Management education. SummitUp 2024 featured masterclasses covering a variety of topics, including Product Design for Global Markets and Women Leaders in Indian Entrepreneurship. These sessions, along with extensive networking opportunities, highlighted current challenges and explored ways to leverage them for future growth.
