Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta Innovation Park (IIMCIP) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with YouthNet to enhance entrepreneurship and innovation efforts. This collaboration aims to support and scale startups through various means including business model development, mentorship, market access, and funding opportunities.
Extended Partnership for Enhanced Support
The MoU between YouthNet and IIMCIP builds on a previous partnership, focusing on providing commercialization support and scaling opportunities for startups. This extension emphasizes the creation of robust business models, mentorship, market linkage, and access to funding and visibility. The agreement was signed by Nunesenuo Chase, Director of YouthNet, and Neikepekho Shosahie, Manager at the YouthNet Incubation Centre (YIC), alongside Pranjal Konwar, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of IIMCIP, and Sadique Mannan, Program Head, IIMCIP.
Framework for Research-Driven Innovation
The MoU establishes a framework to promote research-driven innovations, assisting entrepreneurs in bringing their ideas to market and scaling them for broader adoption. Both parties aim to co-create success stories at both regional and national levels by leveraging their complementary strengths.
Comprehensive Support for Entrepreneurs
Entrepreneurs benefiting from this partnership will receive comprehensive support that includes proof of concept (POC) development, access to technology and lab facilities, mentorship, capacity building, and essential market and finance linkages. These services will be provided according to the terms and conditions set by each incubator involved.
Hosting of TIDE 2.0 Program
In addition to the MoU, the partners hosted the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology's (MeitY) Technology Incubation and Development of Entrepreneurs (TIDE 2.0) program at the YouthNet Incubation Centre in Dimapur, Nagaland. The TIDE 2.0 program, aimed at supporting 2,000 startups through ICT-enabled technologies, saw participation from over 35 startups and innovators. Applications span various sectors including healthcare, education, agriculture, financial inclusion, and clean energy.
Upcoming B-Plan Pitching and MeitY Grants
Shortlisted entrepreneurs from the Techathon held on September 9, 2024, will be invited for the next round of business plan (B-plan) pitching. The final winners will be declared based on their performance. This initiative seeks to identify startups eligible for the MeitY Entrepreneur-in-Residence and MeitY Grants under the TIDE 2.0 program.
