IIM Jammu hosted an annual orientation programme for diverse cohort of students across various programs such as PhD, MBA, EMBA, etc, 

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu commenced its annual orientation program at its state-of-the-art campus in Jagti, heralding the start of academic journeys for a diverse cohort of students across various programs.

The orientation program marked the commencement for several batches:

- 5th Batch of Ph.D. (2024-28)

- 3rd Batch of Ph.D. (WP) (2024-28)

- 9th Batch of MBA (2024-26)

- 3rd Batch of MBA (HA&HM) (2024-26)

- 4th Batch of EMBA (2024-26)

Day Two: Yoga and Knowledge Sessions

The second day of the orientation began with a rejuvenating yoga session led by Yoga Guru Sahil Mehra, focusing on “Maximize Happiness and Mindfulness,” setting a positive tone for the students’ academic journey.

Shailesh Lohiya, Librarian at IIM Jammu, conducted an enlightening session on the “Knowledge Management Center,” acquainting students with the advanced library resources and e-learning tools available at ‘Nalanda’.

Technical Sessions and Team Building Activities

Asif Khan and Avinash, Assistant System Managers, hosted a session on “ERP & IT Support System,” followed by outbound activities facilitated by the Office of Student Affairs aimed at fostering team cohesion among the new students.

Insights from Industry Leaders

The morning sessions continued with Deepali Jetley, Chief People Officer at Marengo Asia Hospitals, delivering a motivational talk on “Unlocking Your Potential in the Corporate World: Continuous Learning and Curiosity.”

Sourav Dasgupta, Senior VP and Head of IT at Allcargo Logistics Ltd., shared valuable insights in his session “RoI: Academics to Corporate,” stressing the significance of academic investments for future corporate success.

Special Address by Padma Vibhushan Dr Karan Singh

A highlight of the day was a special address by Padma Vibhushan Dr. Karan Singh, Former Union Cabinet Minister and Ambassador of India to the USA, who spoke on “The Many Dimensions of Management.” Dr. Singh blended traditional wisdom with modern challenges, emphasizing sustainability and mental well-being in management practices.

Practical Insights and Cultural Celebrations

Sessions on “Finance & Accounts Services” by Rajat Jain and “Upkeep of Infrastructure and Facilities” by Shyam Dhar Tiwari provided practical insights into campus operations.

Dr Raj Kumar V, Dr Gaana J, and Dr Rambabu concluded the day’s sessions with a focus on “International Accreditation & Ranking,” highlighting global benchmarks in education.

The day concluded with vibrant cultural performances by the Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages, celebrating regional diversity and promoting holistic development among the students.
