IIM Lucknow Samvaad convened prominent alumni, industry experts, and thought leaders to discuss and explore India's evolving role in the global economy.

The Indian Institute of Management Lucknow (IIM Lucknow) has successfully wrapped up its flagship alumni conclave, Samvaad 2024, held under the theme 'Shaping India’s Growth Story.' The event convened prominent alumni, industry experts, and thought leaders to discuss and explore India's evolving role in the global economy.

Opening Address Highlights India's Economic Progress

The conclave commenced with an insightful address by Professor Archana Shukla, Director-in-charge of IIM Lucknow. She underscored India’s significant progress towards becoming a global economic powerhouse and highlighted the crucial role of IIM Lucknow in advancing the digital economy and fostering international growth. “Institutions like IIM Lucknow are pivotal in nurturing future leaders who will drive the nation’s growth and global prominence,” she stated.

Keynote Address by SEBI Member Kamlesh Varshney

Kamlesh Varshney, a full-time member of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), delivered a keynote address that resonated with attendees. Varshney emphasized the importance of finding satisfaction in one's career while continuously pursuing growth. He shared insights on aligning personal and professional goals to contribute effectively to national progress.

Discussions on India’s Growing Global Influence

Samvaad 2024 also celebrated India’s recent milestone of 78 years of independence, with discussions highlighting the country’s emerging status as a global powerhouse. Projections indicate that by 2025, India will account for one-fifth of the world’s working-age population, and by 2030, it will have over 850 million internet users. The conclave discussed how India’s growth is driven by consumption, services, and an expanding consumer class.

Panel Discussions Offer Diverse Perspectives

The event featured four engaging panel discussions:

- Panel on Strategy and Governance: Moderated by Akrati Solanki, Executive Director at Accordion, this panel included Kamlesh Varshney, Bhaskar Subramanian, Infra Expert, and former advisor at NITI Aayog and KPMG. The discussion focused on the strategic and governance challenges shaping India’s economic trajectory.

- Panel on Finance and Strategy: Led by Dhruvin Chheda, Chief of Staff at Nykaa, the panel featured industry leaders such as Girish Deshpande of IDBI Capital Markets, Pavan Goyal of Clarista, and Ruishikesh Kamat from Aldar UAE. The session provided diverse insights into finance and strategic planning essential for India's growth.

- Panel on Entrepreneurship: Moderated by Abhishek Singh from SalarySe, this panel included Taniya Biswas of Suta, Dev Batra of Lyxel & Flamingo, and Niharika Jalan of IndiCold. The discussion offered valuable perspectives on entrepreneurship and scaling successful ventures.

1. Bombay Shaving Company: A premium personal care and grooming solutions brand was founded by Shantanu Deshpande, who passed out from IIM Lucknow in 2011. Shantanu has pursued an MBA in Strategy from IIM Lucknow. After completing his education he worked for 4 years at McKinsey & Company and after that, he ventured into the world of entrepreneurship.

2. Flutrr: It is an inclusive multilingual online dating app which provides a delightful dating experience in one’s language. A new generation of matching algorithms from ancient Indian and Vedic sciences of Astrology and Numerology are followed at Flutrr. The company was founded by Kaushik Banerjee who is designated as co-founder and CEO. Kaushik has pursued MBA in Marketing Operations from IIM Lucknow and has passed out on 1992.

Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow has been ranked at the seventh spot in the NIRF 2024 rankings. Moreover, as per the media reports, the summer placements for batch 2024-26 was concluded with all 576 PGP and PGP ABM students receiving internship offers. The highest domestic stipend stood at INR 3.95 lakh per month and the highest international stipend offered was INR 1.75 lakh per month. Additionally, the IIM Lucknow average and median stipends stood at INR 1.43 lakh per month and INR 1.50 lakh per month, respectively.
