The two-day event, centered around the theme "Building Resilient Businesses through Sustainability," brought together a diverse group of thought leaders, industry experts, and academics to tackle the pressing challenges and opportunities in sustainable business practices.

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Lucknow successfully hosted its flagship Business Sustainability Conclave, "Sanrakshan 2024,". The two-day event, centered around the theme "Building Resilient Businesses through Sustainability," brought together a diverse group of thought leaders, industry experts, and academics to tackle the pressing challenges and opportunities in sustainable business practices.

Inaugural Addresses and Keynote Speakers

The conclave was inaugurated with addresses from Professor Dipti Gupta, Chairperson of PGP-Sustainable Management, and Professor Kaushik Ranjan Bandyopadhyay, Chairperson of the Centre for Business Sustainability. Both professors emphasized the growing significance of integrating sustainability into core business strategies. The event was graced by Ansuman Patnaik, Director General of the Competition Commission of India, who delivered the keynote address on the first day, stressing the importance of responsible resource management for long-term environmental sustainability.

Spotlight on Innovation: The Startup Mela

A standout feature of Sanrakshan 2024 was the 'Startup Mela,' where entrepreneurs and innovators showcased pioneering solutions for sustainable innovation. These startups presented groundbreaking technologies and approaches aimed at redefining the future of business through sustainability.

Emphasis on Sustainability and Innovation

Professor Ajay Singh, Dean of IIM Lucknow’s Noida Campus, highlighted the vital role of sustainability in fostering innovation and gaining a competitive edge in today’s business environment. He pointed out that sustainable practices are increasingly becoming a key driver of innovation, beyond merely addressing regulatory and environmental concerns.

Diverse Discussions on Sustainable Practices

The conclave provided a dynamic platform for discussions on various critical topics, including green financing, renewable energy, sustainability measurement and reporting, resilient supply chains, climate change mitigation, net-zero targets, and inclusivity in sustainable practices.

Keynote Address on Biotech Innovations

Shilpy Kochhar, Head of Strategic Partnerships at BIRAC, delivered a keynote address focusing on the organization's efforts to advance sustainable biotech solutions. She highlighted BIRAC’s commitment to fostering innovation in biotechnology, with initiatives such as Global Bio India showcasing cutting-edge advancements.

Yes, the institute has a list of alumni who are successfully running their own Unicorn startups and have raised the entrepreneurship standard with their creative ideas. To name a few, take a look at the below success stories:

1. Bombay Shaving Company: A premium personal care and grooming solutions brand was founded by Shantanu Deshpande, who passed out from IIM Lucknow in 2011. Shantanu has pursued an MBA in Strategy from IIM Lucknow. After completing his education he worked for 4 years at McKinsey & Company and after that, he ventured into the world of entrepreneurship.

2. Flutrr: It is an inclusive multilingual online dating app which provides a delightful dating experience in one’s language. A new generation of matching algorithms from ancient Indian and Vedic sciences of Astrology and Numerology are followed at Flutrr. The company was founded by Kaushik Banerjee who is designated as co-founder and CEO. Kaushik has pursued MBA in Marketing Operations from IIM Lucknow and has passed out on 1992.

Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow has been ranked at the seventh spot in the NIRF 2024 rankings. Moreover, as per the media reports, the summer placements for batch 2024-26 was concluded with all 576 PGP and PGP ABM students receiving internship offers. The highest domestic stipend stood at INR 3.95 lakh per month and the highest international stipend offered was INR 1.75 lakh per month. Additionally, the IIM Lucknow average and median stipends stood at INR 1.43 lakh per month and INR 1.50 lakh per month, respectively. 

The average package offered in 2024 placements stood at INR 30 LPA for PGP and PGP ABM, INR 20.14 LPA for PGP SM, and INR 25.53 LPA for IPMX.
